All About Dr. James A. Johnson

Dr. James A. Johnson was born in Louisburg, N.C to the late James Edward & Mary Lee Johnson. Dr. Johnson graduated from Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He studied at Brooklyn Community College and graduated from the Institution of Computer Technology in Business Administration and Data Processing. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Greensboro Bible College in Greensboro, N.C. He was married to the late Helen Durr Johnson and they have two daughters, Wanda Johnson Mitchell, Rhonda Johnson Minter and one granddaughter Courtney Helen Mitchell. Dr. Johnson received Jesus Christ to be his Savior and Lord at the age of 7 at the Allen Chapel Baptist Church in Louisburg, N.C. Dr. Johnson was called into the ministry to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at an early age and preached his initial sermon November 2, 1980 and was licensed to preach the gospel at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. under the leadership of the late Dr. Prince E. Graves. Dr. Johnson was called to pastor Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church now Cedar Grove Tabernacle of Praise (CGTOP) in Greensboro, N.C. for 28 years and retired April 17, 2016. Dr. Johnson started a telephone teaching ministry in January 2011 teaching the seniors of CGTOP at home on the telephone. Today, all ages and nationalities are included as we are in all 50 states of the United States of America and 165 countries around the world. J. A. Johnson Ministries was birthed from Matthew 28:18-20 I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for giving me my heart's desire.
