After preaching and teaching for many years in the United States and being featured on the radio and TV around the world, Dr. Johnson desired to spread the gospel overseas in person and began praying for an avenue to get the message of Jesus Christ out to our sisters and brothers abroad. Bishop McMore Salima of Lilongwe, Malawi in Africa saw Dr. Johnson on TV and wrote him a letter and invited him to come and preach/teach at a crusade in March 2010. After exchanging texts and phone calls the Lord answered Dr. Johnson's prayer and made it possible for him to experience the desires of his heart. The crusade was held in an open soccer field. The band would start playing at 3:30 pm in the afternoon and then an hour before the 6:00 pm service the Praise Team would come out and begin singing. The people of the village came running from near and far to hear them sing and listen to the man of God. The crusade lasted for 13 days and was a tremendous success. To this day, Bishop Salima and the people of Malawi and Dr. Johnson share a bond that will never be broken.
Bishop McMore Salima received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour April 4, 1994 at the age of 22. In 1995 he answered God's call to preach and teach the Gospel and began planting churches in Malawi and Mozambique even though the war had not ceased. Churches were planted and the work grew rapidly. In 1998, God opened their eyes to see the needs of orphaned children and led them to open Arms of Jesus Children's Center. This center has allowed Bishop Salima and his wife, Promise to raise mechanics, tailors, carpenters, teachers and so many other skilled people despite the little resources they had. They attribute this to God's grace.
From 1995-2001 they have planted churches in some of the remotest areas and their work grew rapidly. In 2001 God sent them to the city of Blantyre, where they planted a church. They currently reside in Lilongwe City where they now have several city churches.
Construction of an orphanage is underway to accommodate 30-50 children and will be open in the near future. They are also opening Fisher's of Men Bible College where they will be teaching men and women how to go and plant churches.
Our prayer partner continues to pray for us as we pray for them. They affectionately refer to Dr. Johnson as Pa Pa and his late, beloved wife as Mama Helen. They both are eager to continue spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
